Places I’ve Written: Titan Tavern and Geek Shop

So, one of the places I like to take my Hemingwrite to and write in town is Titan Tavern and Geek Shop in downtown Whitehorse. It’s a great place to get a good meal and I definitely get some good looks when I bring my Hemingwrite out and start working on my novel.

The Pros

My Hemingwrite at a booth at Titan Tavern.

The food would be the first pro. Honestly, I think I’ve only said one slightly negative thing about the food at this place and it’s that this place has the second best burgers in Canada. At first, the guy working the counter sounded offended until I explained the only reason I said that was because I’ve been to Gordon Ramsay Burger in Vancouver.

Also, their poutine? Fucking phenomenal. They have a loaded poutine where they add bacon, chives, and sour cream. Now, I refuse to get it with sour cream, since I hate the taste of sour cream, but the loaded poutine is worth the money though their portions are so big, I think it’s a good idea to get a large portion so you can walk away with two helpings.

The second would be the seating. Seriously, if you have a laptop or a Freewrite, I’ve found the seating to be comfortable. The cover image was taken at one of their tables but when I can, I tend to prefer their booths, which is the where I took this picture.

The Cons

No wi-fi. This could be a con for some people, but I know Titan doesn’t have wi-fi. For me, I don’t give a shit, because I’m bringing a distraction-free writing device, I can just as easily write offline and sync it when I get home. Doesn’t make it great for editing but it does make it great for drafting.

No free refills. Honestly, this one does make me sad, but maybe it’s for the best. The last thing I need is more soda.

Drink selection. Would it kill them to have some craft sodas, like Boylan’s cola?
